As a post secondary educator: |
For five years, I have supervised student teachers; I find my work with future theatre educators very fulfilling. Since I am still an active practitioner in the secondary setting, I am up to date on current pedagogical trends and what is considered best practice. I also offer insight from the lens of an administrator that will help students develop a keener sense of awareness about the systemic drivers inherent in school settings. Understanding what many districts in our area expect from a content perspective (alignment and cross curricular), I assist with developing overarching themes from the lens of Backwards Design.

As a presenter: |
I draw upon my background as a performer and improv artist to develop a down to earth presentation style. If I can be candid about my own professional experiences, bring a little humor into the topic I am focused on, and ensure clear communication, I find audiences are engaged and responsive to the work I do. I enjoy sharing what I have learned and continue to learn on my journey through this profession in a way that others find relevant and meaningful to their own practice. I have presented on a variety of topics that include but are not limited to working with at-risk students, deconstructing discipline, developing highly effective PLCs, and guidance for new teachers.
